I was born On Coronado Island. It's in the Pacific. Well kinda, sorta. It is in San Diego harbor. I grew up in Arizona (Sometimes referred to as Aridzona.) My mom died when I was four and my dad took it pretty hard. He started drinking so my grand parents took over raising me with dad's help. He was a sign painter and a real good one but his drinking started to get out of control and my grand parents took over raising me. They hsd s small farm. We raised watermelons in the summer and sold them at a roadside stand in front of the farm. Talk about fresh, if someone wanted a really fresh one I'd go up in the field and thump them until I found a real ripe one and bring it to them.
We visited Coronado and San Diego during the summer as i was growing up and then when I was in the Navy my ship was stationed there.
I moved to New England after I got out of the Navy to see the places my grand parents had told me about. BUT..... They never mentioned SNOW! New England is very pretty at the start of fall. I had a new Triumph Spitfire sports car so one week end in the fall me and my girlfriend touched every one of the thirteen original states. Well we drove thru every one and just touched Maine that is. I kept saying wow what a pretty sight until my girl friend told me to look at the road not her. I knew that little sports car could handle the twisting turns of the roads but I guess my constant gear shifting and tire squealing kinda scared her.
A while back I mentioned snow. I loved it the first day as I had never seen snow fall. After I got snowbound in my apartment for three days at Thanksgiving snow and I did not get along. The dang stuff would not go away. It
didn't melt away till Spring!!!
I gave up after three years and started driving my Spitfire towards Aridzona but The Spitfire liked cold weather and stranded me in Ohio. I had to go to tech school and get married to escape. I escaped to Dallas still planning on
going on to Arizona after a couple of years. That was in 1980 and I am still in Dallas. Let me tell you Texas is no match for California.
